When the going gets
tough, the toughest call in an expert.
Now more than a century old, Shakespeare Composite Structures, is the
world-wide innovator in fiberglass engineering, design, and
manufacturing.
We invite you to put our extensive expertise in fiberglass composites
engineering to work for you to solve your toughest problems with durable,
cost-effective, attractive fiberglass composites.
Our more than 40 years of
experience in fiberglass reinforced products includes
the innovative, stubbornly durable fiberglass utility poles that are
gaining ground as environmentally wise replacements for chemical-laden wood
poles. The company has also led the way with innovative fiberglass composites
in other industries, including electrical, recreational, medical,
construction,
and many others. We makes a variety of fiberglass products
formulated from
polyester, epoxy, and vinyl ester resins, and reinforced with glass,
carbon,
and other fibers. The products are finished in a variety of ways,
including
machining, drilling, surfacing, tapering, and application of custom
finishes.
Fiberglass components can often improve a product's
performance, good looks,
and longevity while at the same time reducing its manufacturing
cost. In
many cases, our pultruded or filament wound shapes are not only
stronger,
but more economical than metal or wood, and likely to last longer,
especially
in adverse environments, and especially where weight, strength and
durability
are important factors.
The Shakespeare Composite Structures approach
Our composites engineering starts before the product is ever
formed in the machine. The first step is to select the resins and fibers
that will become the finished product. Shakespeare employs a variety of
resins, selected for their properties appropriate to the task that the finished product
will serve. These include polyester, epoxy, and other suitable resins,
high-tech or old-tech.
The next step is a mechanical consideration of the demands to
be made on
the finished goods. Considerations include resistance to
environmental factors,
mechanical strength, tolerance to flexing and compression, etc.
Shapes which
replace wooden or metal components can often be simplified or combined
into one shape when fabricated of fiberglass composite, and connection
devices can be built into the shape for easy attachment to other pieces, as needed.

Selecting a process
Performance expectations greatly affect the choice of processes by which to make your
parts. Engineers - yours or ours - can choose
manufacturing processes to be employed separately or in combination
to create your problem-solving shapes. We can employ pultrusion
and filament
winding under one roof. In addition, a variety of assembly and
finishing
operations can be performed to achieve the designed performance,
durability,
and shape: holes, grooves, polishes, coatings, mortises, joining,
sanding...
whatever the job requires, whether simple or complex, and in whatever
production
capacity you need. Our factories are thoroughly equipped and
fully staffed
to handle your order.
Facilities
Shakespeare Composite Structures primary composites manufacturing
facility,
the largest such facility in the world, is located in Newberry, South
Carolina.
Fiberglass manufacturing operations are also located in Florida and
California
in the USA.Substantial resources are available
for engineering, tooling, and production.
The next step...
Bring your toughest challenge to Shakespeare Engineered Composites.
